Different types of clay are used (stoneware, porcelain, earthenware, granite, etc.) and they are all turned intuitively. Each one is therefore unique in its own way and has voluntary traces of the tools to underline the craftsman's passage.
The process of making ceramic pieces requires several steps and firings. First step: turning the piece.
The next step consists of a first firing at low temperature to partially vitrify the piece so that it is easier to handle. This step produces a "bisque" piece. This biscured piece is ready for enamelling, i.e. adding colours and finish. The glaze (enamel) is liquid and penetrates the piece.
It is then ready for the final stage: firing at high temperature.
